This Idea Map describes the guidelines involved in idea mapping. Although idea mapping has a rich heritage in mind mapping, idea maps often break the mind map laws. Chapter 10 of Tony Buzan’s The Mind Map Book describes  the Mind Map Laws — many of which are encouraged to be broken when it comes to idea mapping and based on the purpose for which the map is being created.

Over the next several postings I’ll share a number of scenarios where both the mind map laws (and even the idea mapping guidelines) might not apply.
