An Idea Mapping Success Blogs Weblog
On October 8, 2013 I gave a 1-hour memory webinar for 195 members of IIBA (International Institute of Business Analysis). Certified Idea Mapping Instructor Debbie Showler was also in attendance. This is her Idea Map of the content of that webinar. This webinar will be available to the public soon in the IIBA Webinar Archives.
I’m looking forward to hosting this 1-hour webinar for the members of IIBA (International Institute of Business Analysis) tomorrow at 11:00 AM EST. For more information on my full Memory Workshops see the Course Abstract.
Idea Map #437 was created by Chris Kordick – a pre-med student at Benedictine University. He attended my 2-day public Idea Mapping Workshop in August 2013, and I first introduced his idea maps in my September 12, 2013 posting.
Ten days ago I received an email from Chris telling me that he set the curve on his first Master’s level cardiology exam. He got a 92% while the class average was a mere 63%. This is great positive feedback and confirmation that idea maps and mind maps can help students significantly! Chris also taught a few of his classmates the idea mapping basics to see if this could work in the science field…needless to say, he says they want more!
This tool is excellent for both business professionals and students. Join me for the next 2-day public Idea Mapping Workshop in Palm Beach, FL December 11-12, 2013.
Thanks for sharing Chris! For more about Chris and his Idea Mapping journey into Med School see the post from August 12, 2015.
On December 11-12, 2013 I (Jamie Nast – author of Idea Mapping) will be teaching my 2-day Idea Mapping Workshop in Palm Beach, Florida. This class is open to the public.
I look forward to meeting those of you already planning to attend this event as well as the instructor certification course held December 11-15, 2013. Dress is casual and comfortable as there will be a light physical activity on Day 1. If interested you can register here or view the course abstract.
For anyone looking into becoming a CIMI (Certified Idea Mapping Instructor), this workshop fulfills one of the first requirements toward that certification. See you there!
I am honored to be featured in this month’s Mindjet User Spotlight. In this article I share one of my favorite idea maps using MindManager.
Chris Kordick is pre-med student at Benedictine University and a strength coach. He attended my 2-day Idea Mapping Workshop in Livonia, MI last month. During one of the workshop activities Chris created this map. Here’s what Chris said:
“Utilizing the Idea Mapping or Mind Mapping ideology has made my job as a strength coach much easier. In about 15 minutes I was able to completely plan a year long weightlifting program for one of my athletic teams. Usually this process takes me about a month of work, but in minutes I was able to outline and visually see where the weaknesses were in my programs because they were interconnected on the map. Whether this skill is utilized for business or studies, it is a tool that opens new doors to productivity and performance.”
Thanks for sharing Chris! For more about Chris and his Idea Mapping journey into Med School see the post from October 5, 2013 and August 12 2015.
Using Mind Maps Magazine was created by Faizel Mohidin and this is the 5th month of its publication. It is now available on iPhone, iPad and iPod via the App Store. Coming soon will be the Kindle version.
In this online magazine Mind Mapping experts in various fields share their latest thinking, tips, tools and techniques in one platform to build a solid and collaborative community. I (Jamie Nast – Author of Idea Mapping) am honored to be among the contributors to this publication.
Back issues are also available.
My last posting included an example from the drawing activity in my recent 2-day public Idea Mapping Workshop. Thomas Tombros from Ontario, Canada drew a portrait of Anthony Hopkins using some of Betty Edwards techniques. Mohammed Haboubi commented on my Idea Mapping Facebook page and shared this video. For those of you who like to draw or would like to learn this is a great place to start. Betty Edwards is world-renowned for her ability to teach others to draw — especially those who think they can’t!
A couple weeks ago I held a public Idea Mapping Workshop. (More details in my August 17 post.) One of the favorite activities outside of the idea mapping is around teaching participants to draw a portrait of a human face using some of the techniques taught by Betty Edwards (author of Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain).
The purpose of this activity is to apply a learning model taught in the workshop to a variety of new skills that most adults find difficult or impossible. It becomes an analogy for life-long learning of any skill.
This portrait of Anthony Hopkins was drawn by Thomas Tombros. Great job Thomas!
The public Idea Mapping Workshop in Livonia, MI August 7-8, 2013 was a big success and enjoyed by all.
The top photo features the participants who successfully completed this 2-day journey. The second photo was taken during an activity the afternoon of the second day. The group was brainstorming all their possible uses of idea mapping and capturing their ideas in a large idea map. In upcoming posts I will share some of these participants’ portrait drawings and idea maps.
The purpose of this blog is to share idea mapping examples and related learning from my Idea Mapping, Memory, Speed Reading, and Certification Workshops. This blog is dedicated to my Certified Idea Mapping Instructors, my clients, Mind Mapping and Idea Mapping practitioners around the globe.
